Operation Weserübung features a map made up of three 12x18 inch sheets, covering the territory of Norway from the southern coast to north of Tromso. The map features rivers, mountains, railways, towns and ports, and also includes lakes that can be used as air bases in the course of the game.

Operation Weserübung is full of player interaction, as each player has his turn to move within each phase. The Combat Phase also revolves back and forth between players. And during combat player interaction is even more important, as players choose their own casualties and can sometimes choose the casualties of their enemy. They choose when to attempt to withdraw or evade, and decide how best to use their Generals.
